What you can do for yourself – part 2
Create a vivid picture of yourself in the future. The most successful organizations in the world do it. Steven Covey taught us all of us do it in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. So, we know that if we create a vision for ourselves in the future, we are more likely to achieve that goal than if we don’t take the time to create a vision. Although we may be more likely to equate a vision with a professional goal, this concept applies to our health, as well as any other areas of our life. The easiest way to create a vision is to create snapshot of yourself in the future. Your snapshot should be as detailed as possible:
- What is the look on your face? Smiling?
- Shape of your body – how you envision it to be, if different from right now?
- How do you feel emotionally and physically?
- What are you doing? Running? Walking? Participating in a sport?
- Who are you with?
- What are you thinking?
In its simplest form, your vision of yourself in the future is akin to the concepts described by Michael Losier in The Law of Attraction. Losier describes the law as, “I attract to my life whatever I give my attention, energy and focus to. Whether wanted or unwanted.” Even the newest ideas in quantum physics support the theory that vibrations from energy have an impact on ourselves and those around us.
